2002 MISSETTE LAHEY AWARD WINNER-
KATIE ROUTLEDGE

The award and criteria for the award was developed to select a beginning diver, committed to diving, registered with Alberta Section, and within his/her first two years of diving, meeting the National Qualifying Standard for the first time that competitive year.  The diver was to be selected as a result of performance, not as a result of the quality of the event in which he/she participated, and thus the percentage of the National Qualifying Standard is used rather than his/her placement points at the Winter or Summer Age Group Provincial Championships.

The award is named after Misette Lahey who worked as Southern Zone Chairperson for some time, working with recreational divers as well as competitive divers, and was particularly interested in the development of young divers.

The 2002 Misette Lahey Award Winner is Katie Routledge who is a member of Edmonton Springboard & Platform Diving Club.  Katie is in her first year of diving and her Coach is David Flewwelling.  She attends Riverbend Junior High School in the City of Edmonton.

Katie's biggest accomplishment in diving to date, in addition to qualifying and competing at the 2002 Age Group National Diving Championships, was getting a personal best on both the 1 metre and 3 metre springboard, earning a silver on 1 metre, gold on 3 metre and bronze in synchro diving, while competing at the 2002 Alberta Summer Age Group and Provincial Diving Championships.  In her spare time, Katie likes to swim, snow board and golf.

CONGRATULATIONS TO KATIE ROUTLEDGE.
